After completing my undergraduate degree, I am planning on going to grad school to complete my Masters in Public Health. I am interested in completing my Master of Public Health degree at UGA because I’ve genuinely enjoyed my time in the undergraduate public health program. Studying Health Promotion has deepened my understanding of how social, cultural, and economic factors shape people’s health status; factors that are often overlooked in clinical settings. These insights have made me more aware of the broader context in which health behaviors and outcomes occur, and I want to continue building on that foundation. Earning a master’s degree would allow me to further explore these connections and carry that knowledge into my future career, whether in medicine or research.
Medical School
My goal is to go to medical school and eventually become a pediatrician, and a lot of what I’ve done as an undergraduate has helped point me in that direction. Working with kindergarteners in a tutoring setting showed me how much I enjoy connecting with kids and supporting their growth, even in small everyday ways. Volunteering at a primary care doctor’s office gave me a closer look at how healthcare works in practice, from patient interactions to the teamwork behind the scenes. And in a nutrition research lab, I learned how science and data can be applied to real health questions, which made me appreciate the importance of evidence-based care. Together, these experiences have shaped my interest in pediatrics and reinforced my motivation to combine hands-on care with a strong scientific foundation.
